IMMACULATE CONCEPTION SCHOOL HOME SCHOOL ASSOCIATION

FEBRUARY 2012 NEWS

(Click here for the January Newsletter)

This month’s newsletter is short and sweet, just like the month.  Hard to believe we’re already heading into the final months of the school year, along with our two largest events … The Gala and Carnival. Many opportunities for you to get involved! Please join us and find out why working on our events is so much fun.

As a reminder, please remember that the vast majority of school communications are now electronic only.  Be sure to check the website and read the documents that are emailed home.

Here are the updates from our February HSA meeting:

UPCOMING EVENTS

From the FATHERS CLUB:

The Father’s Club is currently working on two events.  Be on the lookout for information on Ice Skating in early March.  Also, hold the evening of Tuesday June 19th for a Catholic Schools trip to see the Hudson Valley Renegades.

THE MUSICAL – Dancing Through the Decades:  1940 Today will be held on Saturday February 11 (7 pm) and Sunday February 12 (2 pm) at Tuckahoe High School’s auditorium.  Tickets are still available.  Dress rehearsals will be held on Wednesday Feb 8 and Friday Feb 10. VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL NEEDED.  Help is needed backstage during the shows, during the dress rehearsals, as well as during some long rehearsals on 2/6 & 2/7.  Email the HSA at icsisthebest@yahoo.com if you can help.

YOUTH NIGHT – we’re working on finalizing a date in early March.  Information will be distributed shortly.

FATHER DAUGHTER DANCE – scheduled for Saturday, March 24th in Father Fata Hall for girls in grades 4-8.  Invitations will be distributed in mid February. The cost will be $25 per adult, $15 per daughter. Prices rise to $30 per adult, $20 per daughter after the deadline.

New this year, we will ask for song requests to be submitted prior to the event so that the DJ is better prepared.  Think of the music you’d like to hear (dads and daughters).   Photography will be available.  VOLUNTEERS are needed the night of the event.  Contact the HSA at icsisthebest@yahoo.com if you are available to help.

DINNER DANCE GALA –This year’s Gala is fast approaching.  It will be held on April 20, 7pm, at the VIP Club in New Rochelle.  Weather permitting, cocktail hour will be held outside this year.   Ticket information will be available shortly.  $85 per person.  Invite your friends and family members!  Put together a table with your class!

We need VOLUNTEERS! Can you bring a letter to businesses you frequent? Wrap baskets?  Sell raffle tickets the night of the event?   Let us know!

We are looking for Prizes … do you work for a business that will donate?  Do you have items at home to donate for prizes?  We also ask each grade to take up a collection and create a prize basket.  We’ve had some very creative prizes in past years!

Our major source of income for the event is journal ads.  Do you work for or frequent a business that would like to advertise in our Journal?   School families also often take out ads in the journal. Send good wishes to our graduating class.   Congratulate our Gala honorees.   Share your thanks and special memories for our teacher of the year! Order forms will be available shortly.

MANDATORY RAFFLE UPDATE

Reminder … Raffle book fees are due by March 15th. The cost is $250 per book.  Please be sure to keep the large ticket and return the book with your information written on it with the payment. Checks should be made out to ICS. Send payment in an envelope to the main office, Attn: Susan Tiso, Raffle Books.   Be sure to include your child’s name and grade.  Be sure your tickets are returned on time to be included in the raffle.  Winners will be pulled at this year’s Gala.  Any payments not returned will be added on to tuition.

A WORD FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Ms. Harten reported on the following items during the meeting:

RE-REGISTRATION: Further explanation of the re-registration fee process was sent home on February 1st.  Please return your intent to return forms ASAP along with the SMART tuition form, but no later than February 10.  SMART will send invoices for the re-registration fee.  DO NOT send payment to the office with the forms.

Pre-K Families, if you plan to remain at ICS for Pre-K 4 or Kindergarten, it is most important that you return your intent to return form quickly as these classes do tend to fill up.   Preference is given to our school families, but only until the deadline.  Families entering Pre-K 4, you may indicate a preference for Pre-K teacher or program on your form.

OTHER ITEMS

ICS SPIRIT WEAR: The new order form will be distributed shortly.  New shirts and pants are available for purchase and order forms will be submitted monthly.  Remember:  spirit wear does not replace the school uniform.

The next HSA meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 7th. Please contact your class reps if you have any questions.   You can also contact the HSA at icsisthebest@yahoo.com.
